The Special Services Department in the Blue Springs R-IV School District includes both Special Education and Section 504.
Virtual Requests: A student’s IEP Team will consider requests for virtual instruction. The IEP Team must determine if a student is able to receive a free appropriate public education through virtual instruction based upon a student’s unique needs. Please contact your student’s building for further information.
Special Education
The Blue Springs R-IV School District offers a range of services in order to provide a free appropriate public education in the least restrictive environment for students with disabilities. Parents who believe their children have a disability can contact the school counselor, the principal, the liaison process coordinator, or the district special services department.
Our local compliance plan is available for public view at the Bartow Administrative Building between the hours of 8 am and 4 pm, Monday through Friday, or it can be viewed here.

Liggett Trail Education Center
Liggett Trail Education Center is the home to several early childhood programs (early childhood special education, parents as teachers, etc.) as well as the school-age multiple disabilities/medically fragile program.

Section 504
The Blue Springs R-IV School District provides a free appropriate public education to each qualified person with a disability in the District’s jurisdiction. Under Section 504 federal regulations, a free and appropriate education consists of the provision of regular or special education and related aids and services designed to meet individual educational needs of disabled persons as adequately as the needs of nondisabled persons are met.
Procedural Safeguards Notice Section 504 Parent/Student Rights in Identification, Evaluation, and Placement can be made available in foreign language translations. For more information, contact your school’s 504 Building Coordinator, Principal, or the office of Special Services.
