Navigating the PowerSchool Parent/Student Portal

Welcome to your guide for using the PowerSchool Parent/Student Portal. Whether you're a parent or student, this portal provides secure access to important school information including grades, attendance, enrollment, and more.

Step 1: Accessing the Portal

To log in, visit the PowerSchool Portal Website or download the PowerSchool mobile app from the App Store or Google Play.

  • Parents: Sign in with the credentials provided by your school.

  • Students (Grades 6–12): Click the Student Sign In button on the website.

  • Grades K-12: Opens Friday, August 8 at 5:00 PM
    (All registration requirements must be complete)


Student Portal Student Portal Schedule Opening Dates

  • Grades 6–12: Opens Friday, August 8 at 5:00 PM
    (All registration requirements must be complete)

If you have no computer access, contact your student’s school.

  • High School staff are available all summer.

  • K–8 staff begin availability Tuesday, July 22.

Step 2: Creating, Updating, or Recovering Your Account

Account Creation
Parent accounts are set up by the school. If another parent or legal guardian needs access, contact the school.

Password Updates

  • In a browser (not the app), go to Account Preferences and use the pencil icon to change your password.

  • Student passwords cannot be changed.

Forgot Username, Password, or Email?
Email bssdpschoolparents@bssd.net and include:

  • Your student’s name and school

  • Your name

  • The email associated with the account
    Allow up to 48 hours (Monday–Friday) for a response.

Missing Email or Data Access?
If Enrollment Express says a parent/guardian doesn’t have Data Access, they may not have a portal account. Email the address above to request access using the same email listed in the student's Contacts page.

Step 3: Grades, Attendance, and Notifications

Grades & Attendance

  • Grades and attendance are available for Grades 6–12 in the Parent and Student Portals.

  • Elementary parents can view attendance only.

  • Questions about grades should be directed to your child’s teacher.

  • Questions about attendance should go to your school’s front office.

Email Notifications
Parents of students in Grades 6–12 can receive progress updates by:

  • Selecting Email Notification

  • Choosing the report type, frequency, and email recipients

  • Clicking Submit

Step 4: Enrollment Express & Registration

Enrollment Express must be completed each year.

  • If you enrolled a kindergartener in the spring, you’ll still need to complete the Returning Student forms.

  • New residency documents and immunization records are only required if updated since your spring submission.

Out of Town or Need Assistance?
Contact your student’s school to reschedule registration or for help completing forms.

Step 5: Fees, Balances, Schedules & Locker Info

Fee and Meal Balances

  • Go to Balance in the left navigation menu to view current lunch and fee balances.

  • To print a detailed fee statement, select View Fee Statement.

  • Fee balances are not visible in the mobile app.

Locker Info & Class Schedule

  • Locker number and combination can be found under My Schedule in the portal.

  • Use this same section to view your daily class schedule.
