Student iPad Web Filtering (Grades 1–5)
To help keep our elementary students safe online, the Blue Springs School District uses Lightspeed Systems to filter web content on all district-issued iPads for Grades 1–5.
Weekly Email Reports
Every Sunday, Parents and Guardians listed in PowerSchool will receive an automated weekly internet activity summary from do_not_reply@lightspeedsystems.com.
-
What's included: A daily breakdown of the websites your child visited over the last 7 days (including browsing done in private/incognito mode). Search terms are not tracked.
-
Who gets it: Up to four primary contacts (Parent 1 & 2, Guardian 1 & 2) listed in PowerSchool.
-
Don't see it? Check your spam or junk folder. If you update your email in PowerSchool, the system updates overnight.
Accessing the Parent Portal & Managing Screen Time
For more details beyond the weekly report, you can set up a Lightspeed Parent Portal account at any time:
-
Sign Up: Click Log In or Register at the bottom of your weekly email report, or visit the [Lightspeed Parent Portal].
-
Verify: You must register using the same email address listed in PowerSchool. A confirmation link will be sent to your inbox to complete setup.
-
View Multiple Students: If you have more than one child, use the drop-down menu at the top of your dashboard to switch between students.
-
Pause Internet at Home: The portal includes a pause feature. You can temporarily turn off web browsing on your child’s iPad while off school grounds for 1 hour, 3 hours, or overnight to help manage screen time.
