  • Do you want to learn how to think and work like an artist? This choice-based art class will spark your creativity as you learn the artistic process, explore a wide variety of art media, and create some amazing original artworks!

  • Are you a star and ready to shine on stage? Don’t let the summer get in the way of sharpening your acting skills!  This class will give you the opportunity to continue your practice with creative warm-ups, games, and drama activities.  At the end of summer school, we will show off your talent with a spectacular performance.  Session 1 only 

  • This camp offers middle school students an exciting opportunity to explore real-world career pathways through interactive experiences with local community partners. Students will participate in hands-on activities, field trips, and engaging presentations designed to help students imagine their futures, discover new interests, and build confidence as learners and creators.  This program is divided into four one week sessions, each focusing on a different Career Pathway. Students may choose to attend any combination of the sessions—one, several, or all four. Experiences may include visits with organizations such as JE Dunn, Burns & McDonnell, Kansas City Zoo & Aquarium, Precision Dental, Rolling in the Dough KC, Singer/Songwriter Kate Cosentino, the City of Blue Springs. 

    Week 1: Creating Strong Foundations June 1-5
    Students will have a chance to explore how ideas become real world structures. This week focuses on teamwork, problem solving, and learning how people design, build, and shape the spaces we rely on every day.  Experiences may include visits with organizations such as JE Dunn and the City of Blue Springs.

    Week 2: Creating a Culture of Care June 8-12
    Students will discover what it means to support the health and well being of a community. Through interactive activities and guest experts, they’ll explore the many ways professionals create comfort, confidence, and care for others. Experiences may include visits with the KC Zoo, Rolling in the Dough KC, Precision Dental and the City of Blue Springs. 

    Week 3: Creating Spaces and Sharing Stories June 15-19
    Students will explore how innovators, engineers, and artists bring new ideas to life through creative thinking and creative action. From solving problems to telling stories, students will experience how imagination drives real world impact.  Experiences may include visits with Burns and McDonnell, Singer/Songwriter Kate Cosentino, and the City of Blue Springs.

    Week 4: Creating Your Future 22-25
    A discovery week designed to help students find what excites them—through hands on challenges, guest experiences, and opportunities to try something new. Experiences may include visits with the City of Blue Springs.  

    Important Note: This course includes off site travel. Students are expected to meet behavior and participation expectations; those who do not may be moved to a different class.
     

  • Are you ready to take off? If engineering, programming, and aviation interest you then this is the class for you. Future careers using drone technology are growing drastically. In this class we will engineer our own drone remotes, learn the basics of drone flight, learn how to program automatic flights, and improve your real-world drone flying skills using a simulator that also teaches Federal Aviation Administration laws and regulations. Regarding Robotics, students use the VEX Robotics ® platform to design, build, and program real-world objects such as traffic lights, toll booths, and robotic arms.  Session 2 only

  • This exciting family and consumer science (FACS) class will focus on basic culinary skills and nutrition. Students will learn about various types of foods and then prepare food around the week’s theme. 

  • This course is designed to enhance personal and social skills in the context of individual and dual activities. Students will learn skill development, organizational and maintenance principles, and competition strategies as well as rules, etiquette and history associated with individual and dual sports such as disc golf, pickle ball, badminton, and various recreational/yard games. Teamwork, sportsmanship, and safety are emphasized.  Session 1 only

  • This summer class is for the students that want to further develop their video production skills. We will create various types of visual media by exploring advanced techniques in cinematography and video editing. Previous experience with video editing software is HIGHLY encouraged.  Session 2 only
