Erin Cartwright - January 2026
The January Employee of the Month is Erin Cartwright. Erin is a math teacher at Paul Kinder Middle School in her 22nd year in education and 13th year with BSSD.
During her time at PKMS, Erin has served as a teacher mentor and member of the district math cadre. Throughout her career, Erin has consistently inspired students, built their confidence, and created classrooms where all learners feel valued and supported. When you walk into Erin’s classroom, you immediately see a passionate middle school teacher – someone who loves both what she teaches and who she teaches.
While Erin teaches middle school math, she is also helping students navigate a challenging stage of their lives. She intentionally builds confidence not only in students’ academic abilities, but also in who they are as people. Her classroom environment allows students to be their authentic selves while holding them to high expectations in a joyful, engaging setting. Erin teaches every student. She ensures that every learner in her classroom is challenged, supported, and successful.
Fellow math teacher Bailey Lacy said, “The way Erin interacts with and teaches her students is truly inspiring. Her energy is contagious. Whether she’s breaking into song, dancing, or trying something completely unexpected, she’ll do whatever it takes to engage students and make them smile. I couldn’t have asked for a better mentor in my first few years of teaching. She pushes me to become a better educator every day.”
Colleague Michelle Llamas added, “Erin brings joy and energy to every room with her fun and vibrant personality. Her ability to build relationships with students is extraordinary, especially with those who struggle or feel disconnected from math. Erin has a gift for turning challenges into opportunities. Every lesson she teaches is interactive, engaging, and filled with enthusiasm. Erin doesn’t just teach math — she makes it come alive.”
Mrs. Cartwright is best summed up by the words her students used to describe her – silly, creative, nice, funny, caring, incredible, and the best.
