Wildcats Win National Title

The Blue Springs High School Glitter Girls and Co. dance team won its first national championship, taking the Large Varsity Team Performance category at the 2026 National Dance Alliance (NDA) High School National Dance Championship in Orlando, Florida.
The Cats knocked off the previous champions, who had won seven straight titles. The competition included 30 seconds each of jazz, pom, kick and hip-hop in a single routine; traditionally using an artistic theme to tell a story. The GG and Co. theme was “Boogeyman” and used songs like “Enter Sandman,” “Sweet Dreams (are Made of This), “I’m Your Boogie Man,” and “Just Lose It,” clipped with sound bites from “A Nightmare on Elm Street.”
Glitter Girls head coach Erin Brown said, “What is so amazing about this group of kids is that they did this in a way that is completely “them.” They are an extremely loving, funny, and authentic group, making practices fun and never frustrating. It was truly something I have never experienced as a coach to have a group this focused and determined at the same time as being so fun and encouraging to each other.”
Senior team member Addison Schmitt said the title was a culmination of dedication and teamwork. “Four years of long nights, early mornings, laughter, tears, and so much hard work and determination led us to that moment when we won,” she said. “I’m so proud to be part of an organization that not only cares about us as dancers, but also as people.”
The squad was honored at the March BSSD Board of Education and City Council meetings.
Congratulations, Glitter Girls
and Co.
