Connecting with Technology
As part of BSSD’s Community Connections Series, middle school parents and their children were invited to attend “Tech Savvy Together.” Around 80 participants heard information on the use of artificial intelligence both in and out of school. A variety of BSSD staff members spoke to students and parents about how to be informed consumers of AI and to understand its limitations and security risks.
The goal in BSSD is to teach students how to use AI responsibly to enhance learning experiences and show the positive impact AI can have when integrated appropriately. AI can save time, perform tasks, and generate ideas, but cannot replace relationships, care, or build trust.
The presentation also provided guidelines for parents for teaching the importance of respectful digital and social media interactions, and developing media literacy skills.
