Double the Success

Both BSSD girls teams brought back trophies from the Missouri State Track and Field Championships in May. Blue Springs High School took third place and Blue Springs South High School tied for fourth overall.
The Wildcats extended their trophy streak to five straight years while South took home its first hardware since 2018. Both squads were led by individuals taking a pair of titles – Wildcat Paige Stuart won the 800 and 1,600 meter runs; South’s Jazzy Ross won the long jump and 100 run.
Also winning state titles were the Wildcats’ 3,200 relay team of Layla Redding, Tavia Briles, Madi Andes, Paige Stuart and South’s Ella Rew in the 3,200 run.
Stuart is one of the state’s most highly decorated athletes. In her four years at BSHS, she has won a school-record 16 medals – seven gold, six silver and three fourth place. She is a three-time state champion in the 800-meter run, and placed second her freshman year.
