Historic Comeback Leads to Jags’ First State Title

The Blue Springs South High School baseball team wouldn’t let a little adversity stand in its way in the hunt for the Missouri Class 6A state baseball championship trophy. The Jaguars faced a 6-0 deficit in the fifth inning of the state title game against Staley High School, but roared back to plate eight runs in the frame, paving the way for the team’s first state title in school history.
“I thought our guys did a great job of not panicking when we got down early,” Jaguars coach Ben Baier said. “We have been a team that has battled all year long and found ways to win games, and the championship game was no different. This group was relentless, and I am so proud of them for bringing home the first baseball state championship in Blue Springs South history.”
South finished the year 28-7, having beat Staley twice this year. South finished second in the state in 2022 and third in both 2018 and 2014.
