Popsicles - To help raise money for Special Olympics, the Polar Plunge team will be selling popsicles on Friday and Monday during lunch. Bring $1 or more to help support the DWMS staff who are plunging into the icy cold waters at Longview Lake on January 27. Please support the team by donating to this great cause which makes sure Special Olympics is always something our students can participate in. Some team members include Mrs. White, Miss Welch, Mr. Greene, Miss Koeninger, Mr. Cook, and more! Bring your donations Friday and Monday. Thanks!

 

BASKETBALL GAME SCHEDULE:  With the recent snowdays, our basketball schedule has changed.  Please note the following schedule for this next week.

Girls BB:  1/17/18 Home vs. BCMS;  1/18/18 vs MRMS @ BSSHS; 1/22/18 @ SLMS; 1/23/18 @ PKMS; 1/25/18 Home vs BHMS

Boys BB: 1/17/18 @ BCMS; 1/18/18 vs MRMS @ BSSHS; 1/22/18 Home vs SLMS; 1/23/18 Home vs PKMS; 1/25/18 @ BHMS

On 1/18/18, both girls teams (A&B) and boys teams (A&B) will play Moreland Ridge Middle School at Blue Springs South High School.  The order of games will be Girls B, Boys B, Girls A, Boys A.  The first game will start at 4:00.  There will be a "Color Rush" as both teams will wear their dark colors to show off their school colors! 

The end of season tournaments will be held on Jan. 29, 30, 31.  Locations and times TBD. 

 

8TH-9TH GRADE ENROLLMENT INFORMATION- IMPORTANT DATES February 1st- 1:30-3:00 Freshman Center Counselors and teachers will be at Delta Woods to present information about enrollment and courses.

February 7th-

Session 1- For students who will be attending Blue Springs High School 5:15-6:15

Session -For Students who will be attending Blue Springs South High School 6:30-7:30

Freshman Center Curriculum Night- For parents and students to hear information about enrollment and talk to different teachers about specific programs offered. February 8th-22nd

Online enrollment open-students will enroll in 9th grade classes online

February 22nd- 8:20-3:10

Freshman Center Counselors at Delta Woods meeting one on one with students, and reviewing course selections

   

JANUARY 25TH AND 26TH SCHEDULE UPDATES

Please note the changes for these January dates. January 25th will be a regular schedule day. We will no longer be running a block schedule.

January 26th will be an assembly schedule day for clubs. Lunchtimes are as follows:

7th Grade: 10:45-11:09

8th Grade: 11:11-11:35

6th Grade: 11:37-12:00

 

SCIENCE GIRLS' NIGHT OUT Science Girls’ Night Out is Friday, January 26th! There will be an INFORMATION MEETING during Gator Time next Tuesday, January 23rd for the Science Girls’ Night Out Event. If you registered for the event, please go to the 6th Grade Pod immediately following announcements on the 23rd.

 

 

INTRAMURAL SOCCER Intramural Soccer starts Jan 22nd. You must have a signed permission slip to participate. You can get permission slips in the office or from Mrs. Ely room 806.

 

Honor Choir Auditions for 2018-2019 - Are you a singer? Do you love challenging music? Try out for next year’s Honor Choir. Honor Choir is a class that meets all year and focuses on High School level music. There are around 60 slots open for singers next year, and it is open to any student that will be in 7th or 8th grade next year, so 6th and 7th graders, come try out! Auditions are on January 17, 18, 19, 22, 23, and 25th. You only need to come to one audition time. Come by the choir room for an audition packet and sign up for an audition! Results will be posted after school on January 26.

 

Show Choir Auditions for 2018-2019 - Show Choir is a great place to do something exciting and different! In Show Choir, we learn to sing and dance! In the past, we have done performances of great musicals and hit songs from movies, like Mary Poppins, The Polar Express, and many more! Come see what all the fun is about! Auditions are after school on January 25. You MUST also audition for Honor Choir to be a member of this group. See Mr. Parrish for details. Results will be posted on January 26 after school.
