  • About Liggett Trail Education Center (LTEC)
     
    Liggett Trail Education Center is an educational setting designed to address the needs of students ages three through twenty-one years, encompassing
    preschool age children who qualify for Early Childhood Special Education and school age Multi-Disabled Special Education students. Emphasis is upon school/parent communication, developmentally appropriate practices, specialized therapies and a team approach that allows each student to work toward his or her potential.
     
    Early Childhood Special Education students are exposed to wide variety of academic and social/emotional learning opportunities through the use of Creative Curriculum, Pathways to Reading, Strong Start, and individual IEP goals.
     
    Multi-Disabled students experience vast learning opportunities through Unique Learning Systems, community based integration trips, and individual IEP goals. 
     
    Students also participate in special learning opportunities through visits from the Fire Department, Zoo Mobile and other local performing groups.  Students also participate in exciting annual events like Walk & Roll-A-Thon, Family Fun Night, Literacy Night, Kindergarten Transition Night, book fairs, and much more.

    Parents As Teachers (PAT)
     
    Parents As Teachers is a thriving program serving families of the Blue Springs School District.  Our team of highly qualified parent educators serve families with children birth-kindergarten.  
     
    Parents As Teachers also provide family support through:
    • Monthly Group Meetings focused on important parenting topics and interactive parent and child(ren) events
    • Regularly scheduled referral/developmental screenings
    • Participation in National Parents As Teachers trainings
    • Home visits
    • Partnering with teen parents 
    • Semesterly Early Childhood Advisory Meetings with local representatives from community preschools, businesses, etc

    Early Childhood Parent Teacher Association (ECPTA)

    Liggett Trail Education Center is happy to partner with the Blue Springs School District's ECPTA.  The ECPTA board members help support the student and staff of LTEC in addition to connecting parents throughout the community through monthly Lunch Bunch activities.

    ECPTA also provides support through:

    • Monthly board and planning meetings
    • Monthly Lunch Bunch outings (touring the police station and fire station, Zoo Mobile, Holiday Lunch, GAGE day, etc.)
    • Annual fundraising events
    • Annual community outreach events
    • Sponsoring a teen parent holiday party

Announcements

  • Enrollment Information 2019-2020:

    August 7th 8:30 am-7:00 pm at Liggett Trail Education Center

    If you have not already completed the Department of Public Safety verification process, you will need to begin by visiting the DPS office at 1501 NW Jefferson St. Blue Springs (816-874-3330).  If you are not sure if you need to visit DPS, please call the office and we can check. 

    What to take to DPS:

     

    Pre-kindergarten students enrolling for 2019-2020 school year should contact their home school to begin the enrollment process.

    Two of the following printed statements or contracts:

    • Current electricity bill (within the last 30 days)
    • Current gas bill (within the last 30 days)
    • Lease agreement (signed by the landlord)
    • Mortgage contract (signed by the mortgage company)
    • Mortgage statement (within the last 30 days)
    • Construction contract if building a home-including expected completion

    No final disconnect notices for utility bills are acceptable. Please print your statements. You must provide paper copies for required documents to verify residency. E-mail and electronic device verification are not accepted and the department cannot print the documents for you. The department cannot look at your documents on your electronic devices.  

     Additional Paperwork

    • Student(s) State Issued Birth Certificate
    • Parent/guardian driver’s license
    • Divorce decree (showing custodial parent, if applicable)
    • Court Ordered Guardianship paperwork if applicable – Power of Attorney is not acceptable in the state of Missouri
    • State Placement paperwork, if applicable.

    Once you complete this step, bring the signed packet to LTEC on August 7th between 8:30 am-7:00 pm to complete the enrollment process.

    Information needed to complete enrollment at LTEC:

    Advocacy for BSSD E-Newsletter: 

    Blue Springs R-IV School District invites all interested parties to subscribe to “Advocacy for BSSD.” This e-newsletter will deliver critical information regarding legislative activities and proposals. Subscribers will glean insight necessary to start conversations with legislators and community members on behalf of our schools and students. The majority of “Advocacy for BSSD” e-newsletters will be sent January through May to correspond with the Missouri General Assembly session.
