In 2022, Missouri legislators passed the “Get the Lead Out of School Drinking Water Act.” The act sets standards for lead concentrations in school drinking water. Schools are required to test all potable drinking water sources. All drinking water sources must contain lead levels of five parts per billion* or less.
*Standard lead levels in drinking water may be up to 15 parts per billion.
