BSSD Summer School - May 30th through June 25th

Summer School Enrollment

Students must be 5 years of age BEFORE August 1, 2024 Kindergarten enrollment for students who are in the Franklin Smith Elementary attendance area will have their screening and enrollment on Thursday, March 14th between 12 p.m. and 7 p.m. or Friday, March 15th between 9 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Call the school office at (816) 874-3640 to schedule an appointment. Appointments will take approximately 45 minutes. Please Bring the Following on the Day of Your Appointment: 1. Your enrolling kindergartner - we will welcome your child to his/her new school! 2. Enrolling kindergartner's birth certificate (state copy, must list enrolling parent/guardian) 3. Parent/Guardian photo ID 4. Current immunization record 5. If applicable, divorce decree, parenting plan, and/or pertinent adoption or foster paperwork 6. Two of the following items and they must display the home address and parent/guardian name: Gas Bill* Electric Bill* Water Bill* Lease agreement or mortgage statement Construction Contract - including expected completion *Current bills (within the last 30 days). No shut-off notices/delinquent bills, and the bill must include the occupant's name and address.

New Student Residency Verification

Incoming Kindergarten Students

A parent/guardian needs to bring the following documents to the FSE school office between the hours of 9:30am and 3:00pm on school days to begin the registration process.

  • Child's Birth Certificate
  • Parent/guardian Photo ID
  • Child's Current Immunization Records
  • If applicable, divorce degree, parenting plan, and/or pertinent adoption or foster care paperwork.
  • Two of the following documents (must be current - within 30 days):
  1.  Gas Bill
  2.  Electric Bill
  3.  Water Bill
  4.  Lease Agreement
  5.  Mortgage Statement

New students to the District (1st through 5th grade)

Please call DPS June 3rd through August 2nd at (816) 874-3330 to schedule an appointment.  If the student is signing up for summer school, please call DPS before June 3rd.

Returning Student Residency Verification

More information will be sent out in July.  Verification will begin August 5th.
