LTEC construction on scheduleThe final phase of construction for the Blue Springs School District through the 2018 Bond Issue is close to completion at Liggett Trail Education Center. This construction provides additional classroom space and the ability for the district to house the pre-K Cub Care program in the same facility as Parents as Teachers and Early Childhood Special Education.

Liggett Trail Principal and Director of Early Childhood and Special Services Dr. Greg Johnson said the additional 12 classrooms will provide parents with centralized services. “With all of these services in one location, I think it will help lessen the burden on parents,” Johnson said. “We have a great facility, and this just adds that much more.”

Assistant Superintendent of Special Services Dr. Jill Brown said having all the services in one location will also unite the BSSD early childhood experience for parents. “We are excited about having the expertise of each program in one building. This will allow us to more readily pool that collective knowledge into a unifying vision of early childhood education from birth though age 5 to the benefit our students and families. From the start, Liggett Trail has also been the home of our district program for students who are multi-disabled/medically fragile. The building itself was designed for students with physical and mobility impairments from the classrooms to the playground.”
