Several schools received donations to pay lunch account debtThe spirit of giving is alive and well in the Blue Springs School District. In December, two anonymous donors provided funds to clear all student lunch debt at a pair of BSSD elementary schools. Two donors provided $3,000 and $1,000, respectively, to William Yates Elementary and another $3,000 was donated to Thomas Ultican Elementary by a former TUE student and Blue Springs High School graduate. We are so fortunate to be part of a community that cares about our students.
Sandy’s Restaurant in Blue Springs also provided an amazing $15,000 to pay off lunch debts throughout the district. From October 13 to November 23, Sandy’s donated a percentage of each sale to help pay off student lunch debts through its Blue Stripe Project.
A Brittany Hill Middle School parent donated $1,500 to pay off all lunch debt. Another donor provided $600 for lunch debt at Sunny Pointe Elementary.
Thank you to the secret Santas who chose to help families in need. One WYE parent receiving help through the school’s donor said, “This is an amazing gift of Christmas spirit. We cannot thank this donor enough for what they have given our family.”
