Battle of the BrainsThe Blue Springs School District will have two teams participating in the annual Battle of the Brains STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) competition sponsored by Burns & McDonnell. The Cordill-Mason Elementary fourth grade STRETCH class was chosen for its project on echolocation and the team from Delta Woods Middle School will compete with its “Welcome to denCITY” project on density.
The 20 finalists were announced in surprise ceremonies Thursday. Each top 20 finalist team is guaranteed to win a piece of $155,000 in grant money to use toward STEM education. The top team will receive a $50,000 grant, along with the opportunity to work alongside Burns & McDonnell and Science City STEM professionals to transform the winning idea into a $1 million permanent exhibit at Science City.
