2022 Snow Day InformationDear BSSD Families,

Snow days will be here before we know it. Like last year, the first five snow days will be considered Alternative Methods of Instruction days (AMI). These five AMI days will not need to be made up at the end of the year. During AMI days, students will be provided assignments and learning activities to be completed at home. Students in Pre-K-2nd grade will receive paper materials to complete while at home on AMI days. Students in grades 3-12 will access assignments and learning materials online utilizing Schoology, Blue Springs School District applications, or electronic materials created by their teachers. BSSD teachers will be online and available to support students during regular school hours. Additionally, printed instructional materials will be provided for students in grades 3-12 who do not have a district-issued device or online access at home.

When school is canceled and an AMI day occurs, district communication will note, “Due to inclement weather, students will not report to their school building today. All students will continue learning from home on this AMI day. Prime Time is open as scheduled.”

If all five AMI days must be used, any snow day after that point will be a traditional snow day which will be made up at the end of the school year. That communication will say, “Due to inclement weather, school is canceled today. Prime Time is open as scheduled.”

Twitter and Facebook (@BSSDNews) are always the first to be updated with a cancelation status. Next, phone calls, emails, and text messages are sent to district families. Text messages are the fastest mode of communication. If you haven’t already, please consider opting in to receive text messages by texting the word YES to 67587. Cancelation/AMI day notices will also be found on local news broadcasts.

Please contact your school with any questions regarding snow/AMI days.
