Mrs. Sheryl Malick
My name is Sheryl Malick and I am a Kindergarten teacher at Daniel Young Elementary. This is my second year teaching kindergarten and I’ve also taught 1st grade and 4th grade before I started teaching Kindergarten. I prepared for teaching by attending the University of Missouri-Columbia. I majored in Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education. I also received a minor in Spanish. I am currently in the process of obtaining my master’s degree as a Reading Specialist through Park University. I grew up in Blue Springs and attended Blue Springs School District. I went to Lucy Franklin, Brittany Hill, and Blue Springs High School. From there, I moved to Columbia, Missouri to attend Mizzou-home of the Tigers!! Over the summer, on June 5th, I married my best friend! We met in high school, but got reconnected at church. We went to the beautiful Lake Tahoe and San Francisco for our honeymoon! It was picturesque! I love spending time with my husband, family, and friends, they mean the world to me! I also enjoy making crafts, trying out different recipes, and reading!
I was drawn to the teaching profession because I enjoy working with children. I view teaching as a constant learning experience because I love learning about different teaching strategies, classroom management strategies, differentiating instruction, etc. I do set high expectations in my classroom and will not accept minimal effort from anyone…including myself. If I am to expect a 100% effort from my students, then it is also fair to say that my students can expect the same from me!
