Mrs. Vicki Tawney

Welcome to 3rd grade and Mrs. Tawney's Team!  I'm so happy to have your child in our classroom this year!  It will be an exciting year of transition for you and your child as they move into the intermediate grades.  It is very rewarding to watch them challenge themselves as they grow academically, creatively, and socially over the course of the school year.

I have been a part of the Blue Springs School District for most of my life.  I started in kindergarten and continued through the 12th grade, graduating from Blue Springs High School.  From there, I attended the University of Missouri-Kansas City and received a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and a Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction.  I have also completed an additional 40 graduate hours in the field of education.

I have been at Cordill-Mason for my entire teaching career (20 + years) and have taught both 2nd and 3rd grade.  I even had my student teaching experience here in a 2nd grade classroom!  I love being part of the CME family!  The staff, students, and parents are truly the best.  I feel so fortunate to be able to do what I love and work with such wonderful people on a daily basis!  I was honored and humbled to represent Cordill-Mason as Teacher of the Year for the 2013-2014 school year.

I am also very lucky to have a great family-my husband Kent and our three children.  Our oldest child Alex will graduate from college this year (UMKC)..  Our second child Zach is a sophmore in college, and our youngest, Hannah, is in the 8th grade at Delta Woods Middle School.  As a family, we love to travel to new places and to cheer on the Royals and Chiefs as often as possible!

I am looking forward to getting to know your child and the special qualities they will share in our classroom.  I am so inspired each year by my students and how much they grow and achieve over the short time we have together.  It is truly a joy to teach them!
