Mrs. Jessica Kolster
Welcome to 3rd grade! You all know me by maiden name of Miss Collins, but 3 years ago I became Mrs. Kolster! This the the start of my 10th year of teaching. I taught at James Walker in 3rd grade. I then moved over to Cordill where I have taught both 2nd and 3rd grade.
What I did this summer: This summer I devoted all my time and energy to my family. Jay and I took Kinsley on many adventures. We went to Colorado, took her fishing, on her first bike ride, and swimming at grandma and grandpa’s pool! I’m sad the summer is over, but am excited for the school year!
Our Classroom: Building a strong community will be a key factor in making your third grade student successful in my classroom. With a strong community, they will feel safe and comfortable, thus more willing to share their thinking. Through a positive learning environment that we will create, students will be seen as a valued member in the classroom which will invite them to share their thoughts and opinions. They will learn how to solve problems through alternative actions with the help of my empathy and facilitation. As a class, we will be holding classroom meetings. I feel it is vital I have the students input on what is going on in our classroom. We will hold these meetings once a week where students can share concerns and thoughts to me in a non-threatening environment.
