Hi, my name is Janet Helmandollar. I would like to take a moment to introduce myself. I am a second grade teacher at CLE. I have worked for the Blue Springs School District since 1996. I love working with children and consider each class of students part of my family.
I came from a small rural community in north Missouri. I graduated from Truman State University with an elementary education degree and later received my masters from Mid-America Nazarene University. Teaching is such a big part of my life, I do not consider it a job that I go to, but a place where I get to spend my days learning from my students.
I live in Blue Springs and I am married to Scott. We have a daughter Carly. Carly is a freshman at the University of Central Missouri where she is majoring in nursing. We also have two dogs Miley, ( a wire hair fox terrier) and Bandit (a boxer) that love to go on walks and cuddle.
When I get the time, I like to ride horses. I have a mare that I keep with a friend. We try to ride as often as we can. I am fortunate that she lives very close to the Blue and Grey Equestrienne Park, so we have many acres to ride on.
Besides spending time with family and friends, I love to read. I spend the summer finding great books to share with my students. Fostering the love for reading in my students is always one of my main goals each year.
I have many blessings in my life, one of which is my class of students and their parents. I know that it takes all of us to educate our children.
