Brave a Shave Event BSHS

Blue Springs High School Students Cut Hair to Benefit Cancer Fight.

Blue Springs High School students and staff had their heads shaved or hair cut to help raise funds for childhood cancer research at the 10th annual Brave-a-Shave event. The effort raised more than $3,800, bringing the school’s contribution to the St. Baldrick’s Foundation to almost $60,000 since 2010.

A total of 18 students and staff had their heads shaved while five students donated inches of their hair to the non-profit, Children With Hair Loss.  Staff from Sports Clips provided the haircuts. Freshman Brecken Simmons raised the most donations this year with nearly $1,300.

St. Baldrick’s began their Brave-a-Shave challenge for children with hair loss 25 years ago and is the largest charity funder of childhood cancer research grants. Thank you to all those who donated to this great cause.
