Welcome to James Walker Elementary

    Hello JWE Families,
Spring Break has arrived.  Once we return, we begin our testing season.  Second Grade students will no longer take the Terra Nova.  Instead, they will take a computer based assessment called the NWEA.  Students will be assessed in Math and ELA (English Language Arts).  Each session is approximately 1 hour long.  Third, fourth and fifth grade students will participate in the Missouri Assessment Program we call the MAP Test.
The testing sessions for grades 2-3-4-5 are as follows:
    2nd Grade
    ELA - March 27 (1 testing session)
    Math - March 28 (1 testing session)
    3rd Grade
    ELA - April 10-12 (3 testing sessions)
    Math - April 24-26 (3 testing sessions)
    4th Grade
    ELA - April 10-13 (4 testing sessions)
    Math - April 24-26 (3 testing sessions)
    5th Grade
    ELA - April 4-6 (3 testing sessions)
    Math - April 17-19 (3 testing sessions)
    Science - May 1-2 (2 testing sessions)
The testing season is full of continued review of curriculum and testing prep.  Testing sessions begin in the morning which makes arriving to school on time extremely important.  If a child is ill or can not make it to school, we will have make-up sessions for our students.  Attendance is extremely important as well as having the students being ready to learn/perfrom.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact my office.  In the meantime, thank you for your continued support of JWE, our students and staff!!
    Dr. Flax
