  • IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR STUDENTS HOMESCHOOLING PE CREDIT

BSSD’s Home School PE Policy will be revised this spring and go into effect July 1, 2019.  Students submitting documentation after June 28, 2019 must adhere to the new policy guidelines.  The guidelines are still in discussion and are yet to be announced.

*We would advise you to complete all homeschool credit that you are currently working on before June 28, 2019 and submit documentation to your school counselor.  If you have questions, please contact your student’s school counselor.

    Students of the Month!!!

     Lea Stanton

Lea Stanton, nominated by Mrs. Ladd

Lea Stanton is an outstanding example of Jaguar Core values. Lea continues to stretch herself as a senior by taking classes that challenge her and will leave her well-prepared for university academics. She always comes to class ready to be actively engaged in learning. Lea is a good friend and is always willing to lend a helping hand to her classmates. In small groups Lea is the student who keeps the group on task to finish the assignment. If you watch Lea play basketball, you see her leadership skills there as well. She works hard in practice and plays just as hard. Her coaches and teammates know they can count on her just as teachers and classmates do in the classroom. I'm glad she's a Jaguar!

    Michael Ross

Michaela Ross, nominated by Mr. Dorsch

Michaela Ross is deserving of the recognition as student of the month. Michaela is truly involved in every facet of our school. She is a drum major in the marching band. She is involved in student senate. She has helped to organize the Black History Month Showcases each of the past two years. Michaela is also involved in spirit council, track, FCA, and so many other organizations through our school and community. In her senior year, Michaela has truly embraced a role as a leader in many of these organizations, and she's serves as a wonderful role model to our students at South.
Michaela also pushes herself academically. Despite being involved in every kind of extracurricular, Michaela never turns away from taking some of the most difficult courses in this school. She is enrolled in Calculus and Physics C, as well as many other rigorous dual credit and AP courses. Michaela takes her academic growth seriously and makes the most out of all the opportunities South has to offer.
Michaela's course selection and extracurricular involvement illustrates just how invested she is at South. If we were to compose a list of every activity that Michaela is involved in, I'm sure that list alone would prove her deserving of this recognition. However, the most amazing quality about Michaela is the way she carries herself despite the stress and adversity she faces. Even when she's overwhelmed with coursework or her extracurricular responsibilities, Michaela does not complain. She doesn't make excuses and she always seeks opportunities to make someone else smile. She focuses on growth and not perfection, even when that’s difficult to do. Michaela also always puts others first. Whether that means allowing a classmate to ask a question before her or showing compassion to the teachers and staff at South. Michaela truly cares about South and every student and teacher here. I cannot think of a student more deserving of this recognition than Michaela Ross.

What an excellent example of what it means to be a positive member of the Jaguar community.  Congratulations to both of these outstanding students!
