What college did you graduate from with your teaching degree?
Teaching degree was from the University of Missouri – St. Louis (UMSL)
What is a memory you have from your middle school days?
In Mr. Word’s French class we went down to the cooking room and learned how to prepare escargot and other fun French foods. He didn’t tell us that escargot was snails until after we ate them. I have loved them since but probably would have never tried them if I knew ahead of time.
Was there a teacher in your life that made a difference? If so, who?
Mrs. Manual was my Franklin Smith 4th grade teacher. She was so kind. We had a substitute teacher one day so she could go buy shoes and a new outfit for a boy in my class that had very little money and holes in his shoes and clothing. My mom was head room mother and told me the story years later. That has always stayed with me and I think about that as a teacher now.
What makes you smile about Brittany Hill Middle School?
BHMS is one of the kindest most caring schools I have ever worked at. The staff and the students make me feel like this is a home more than a school. I love what I do. I love spending time with my students at school and after school at school functions.
