  • Education Foundation Awards $66K in Scholarships

    The Blue Springs Education Foundation held its annual scholarship reception Wednesday night. This year, the BSEF awarded a record $66,000 in scholarships to 84 students. The BSEF thanks the ongoing support of our community for our students.

  • BSSD Administrators Honored by GKCMPA

    The Greater Kansas City Missouri Principals Association recognized two BSSD administrators recently. Blue Springs High School’s Tom Alderman was named the association’s Assistant Principal of the Year and Delta Woods’ Steve Cook was named the Middle School Principal of the Year. Both award winners were recognized at surprise celebrations at their schools.

  • Students Win at Young Filmmaker Contest

    Delta Woods Gatorvision students and elementary STRETCH students competed in the Kansas City ReelSpirit Film Competition by creating and producing their own videos. At the awards ceremony, the students walked the red carpet, saw their video productions on the big screen at the Plaza Cinemark Theatre as a part of the Kansas City Film Festival, and received their awards.

  • Board of Education Receives Magna Award

    The Blue Springs School District’s Board of Education was recently named a 2017 Magna Award winner at the NSBA's 2017 Annual Awards. For more than 20 years, the Magna Awards have recognized innovative school district programs supported by board governance. The Blue Springs Board of Education was honored for the Project ZAM (Zoo and Me) Program, which through a partnership with the Kansas City Zoo taught early childhood students about different zoo animals and provided kindergarten readiness skills. Congratulations to our outstanding school board.

  • Education Foundation Honors Members, Sponsors

    The Blue Springs Education Foundation held its annual Spring Into Giving Breakfast on Tuesday. The event celebrates Foundation members, BSEF scholarship recipients and community leaders who make the organization possible. This year, the BSEF has received $105,000 which will go a long way in creating opportunity and making a difference for our students, staff, and schools. Special recognition was given to Julius Oswald of the law firm of Oswald, Roam & Rew. Mr. Oswald and his firm have been a dedicated supporter of the Blue Springs School District and Foundation member since its inception. Entertainment for the breakfast was provided by student speaker Tristan Burns of Valley View High School, Thomas Ultican Elementary’s Guys with Ties club and Blue Springs High School sophomore singer Sam Aubuchon.
