I began teaching at Moreland Ridge in January 1998 after returning from teaching 2 years overseas. My background is in Special Education working with primarily with students with Learning Disabilities, Autism and Asperger Syndrome. I provide support to 7th grade students in a variety of school settings, working closely with the general education teachers. I am excited to be Co-Teaching this year with Mrs. Sullivan in 7th grade math.

CO-TEACHING DEFINITION
Co-Teaching is a service delivery model in which two (or more) educators or other certified staff, contract to share instructional responsibility, for a single group of students, primarily in a single classroom workspace, for specific content (objectives), with mutual ownership, pooled resources, and joint accountability.
BENEFITS FOR TEACHERS AND STUDENTS IN CO-TAUGHT CLASSROOMS
Co-Teaching reduces stigma for special needs students while increasing classmates' understanding and respect for students with special needs, and, most importantly increases learning opportunities for all students.
Co-Teaching reduces the student to teacher ratio, making it easier to meet individual student needs in an integrated heterogeneous classroom.
Co-Teaching combines the strengths and resources of two professionals which supports instruction and classroom management while allowing more opportunities for the professionals to reflect, monitor, assess, adjust and adapt instruction.
