FELLOWSHIP OF CHRISTIAN ATHLETES
Fellowship of Christian Athletes is a non-denominational faith-based organization open to all students regardless of their athletic ability. FCA meets every Tuesday morning at 7:10 a.m. in room 704. In our Huddle groups we share our faith in Jesus Christ and learn how to better live it in our daily walk in school. FCA also plans activities for here at school and field trips to various sporting events in and around the Kansas City metro area. In addition, FCA has numerous year-round camps that everyone is encouraged to attend.

FORENSICS
Students in 7th and 8th grade may audition for and become a part of the Forensics Team (speech and drama.) Students compete with other schools for trophies and medals in such activities as duet acting, prose and poetry reading, storytelling, speech presentations, dramatic and humorous interpretation, and improvisational duets.

HONOR CHOIR
The Moreland Ridge Honor Choir is an auditioned choir designed for 7th and 8th grade boys and girls who want an opportunity to sing challenging music. Honor Choir participates in various concerts and community events as well as the Worlds of Fun Music Festival in April. Rehearsals are Wednesday and Friday mornings from 7:00 – 7:40 a.m.

HUSKY AMBASSADORS
Husky Ambassadors is an organization in which Moreland Ridge students act as ambassadors to new students. Husky Ambassadors are students who are kind, friendly, caring, positive role models, and have good attendance and grades. Duties include giving a tour of the school, helping new students with his or her locker, introducing new students to classmates, and escorting new students to lunch and eating with them for one week.

HUSKYVISION
HuskyVision is our entertaining and informative school-wide broadcast which highlights news and activities at MRMS. Students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade may participate in HVTV. Student crews include Acting Crew, Camera Crew, Editing Crew, and PowerPoint Crew. Acting, Camera, and PowerPoint Crews meet after school on Tuesday from 2:40 - 3:30 p.m. The Editing Crew meets after school on Wednesday and Thursday from 2:40 - 3:30 p.m.

JAZZ BAND
Any 7th or 8th grade band student may audition for a part in the Jazz Band. Auditions are held in the fall, and the group performs throughout the entire school year at MRMS, throughout Blue Springs, and in various state-level competitions.  Students MUST be a member of the 7th or 8th grade band if they play saxes, trumpets, trombones or drum set.

NATIONAL JUNIOR HONOR SOCIETY
Open by invitation to 8th graders who meet the following qualifications as a second semester 7th grade student: 1) cumulative GPA of 3.9 or better, 2) evidence of extra-curricular involvement in school or the community, 3) recommendations of their teachers.

ONE ACT PLAY
This is a student directed/acted play that goes up in late spring. Students interested in directing need to be in 8th grade and apply to be selected. The cast and crew are open to all students. There will be at least one public performance.

READERS THEATER
This is a group performance of literature from a script using only suggestive sets and costumes. Auditions are open to all students and will have at least one public performance in the fall semester.

RIDGE READERS BOOK CLUB
Ridge Readers Book Club is for students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade who enjoy reading, sharing books with friends, and participating in a variety of fun reading activities. The club meets the first and third Wednesday of each month from 2:40 - 4:15 p.m. in the MRMS Library Media Center.

SCHOLAR BOWL
The MRMS Scholar Bowl Team is looking for knowledgeable 7th and 8th graders to represent the school in regional competitions during February and March. Tryouts for this team will be held on announced dates before and after school in mid-December. Team members will be expected to attend weekly practices beginning in January and running through the end of the competition season in March.

SCIENCE CLUB
All 6th, 7th, or 8th grade students interested in broadening their exposure to science are welcome to join the Science Club. Students will conduct a variety of scientific experiments. The club will meet once a month from 2:40 - 3:45 p.m.

SHOW CHOIR
The Moreland Ridge Show Choir is an auditioned choir designed for 6th through 8th grade boys and girls who want an opportunity to sing and dance. This choir only meets 2nd semester and auditions take place in early December. Rehearsals are Wednesdays after school from 2:45 - 4:00 pm, and they will perform at MRMS school concerts and take a tour in the spring.

STUDENT COUNCIL
Student Council consists of selected 6th, 7th, and 8th grade members that are role models who maintain responsibility for grades, citizenship, behavior, and attendance. Members meet on the second Wednesday of each month at 7:05 a.m. to set building goals, plan school spirit activities, organize building and community service projects, and participate in leadership workshops.

THESPIANS
This is an international organization in which we maintain membership as our drama club. Students earn points first and are then invited to join. YEARBOOK
Yearbook is open to 6th, 7th and 8th graders who enjoy writing, photography and want to be a part of creating our school’s yearbook. The yearbook is completed online and does not require any materials. We meet once a week on Mondays until 3:45. Students are selected for this club based on applications that they turn in at the beginning of the school year.
