The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education reported that we have once again received a perfect score on our Annual Performance Report. This is the eighth year in a row that we have received a perfect score. This is determined by a number of factors including student achievement.

Students Feel the Warmth of Caring Students across the Blue Springs School District are warmer today because of the efforts of caring and dedicated business leaders in our community. S & T Enterprises, Adams' Dairy Bank and Walmart, partnered this year to bring 138 winter coats to students in need, an order totalling more than $3,700. This is the second year S & T Enterprises, has provided our district families with much needed support, so close to the holidays. S & T Enterprises' services include real estate, building construction, landscaping and property management.
Daniel Young Elementary's Tiffany Morris wins Milken Award
First-grade teacher Tiffany Morris of Daniel Young Elementary was honored with the Milken National Educator Award today in a surprise all-school assembly. As a part of this award, she will receive $25,000, to be used at her discretion. Mrs. Morris is the second winner from the Blue Springs School District, with the last being Sara Crump of Blue Springs High School in 2007. Tiffany is the only winner from the state of Missouri this year. She is yet another example of the outstanding educators that we have working in our school district every day.
Wildcats wrap up perfect softball season The Blue Springs High School Wildcats softball team put the finishing touches on a perfect 31-0 season Saturday with a 7-1 win in the Missouri Class 4 State Championship Game. The Cats became the first Class 4 team in state history to record an undefeated season. Blue Springs to the championship game with a wild 6-5, nine-inning comeback win over Webb City in the semifinals and captured the crown with a 7-1 win over Parkway West in the finals. Congratulations, Wildcats!
Nancy Stevens named Missouri Secondary Counselor of the Year Blue Springs High School’s Nancy Stevens has been selected the Secondary Counselor of the Year for the State of Missouri. Nancy has been with the District for 30 years and is currently the BSHS Counseling Department Chair, and serves on numerous advisory committees. She has also been instrumental to the District’s effort to improve success on the ACT test. Nancy will be honored at the Missouri School Counselor Association’s annual conference in November. Join us in congratulating Nancy for receiving this wonderful honor.
