Apply to Join FEMA’s Youth Preparedness Council
Students in grades 8 through 11 who are interested in emergency
preparedness are encouraged to apply to serve on the Federal
Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA)
Youth Preparedness Council.
The Council engages
in local and national emergency
preparedness projects. Members represent the youth
perspective on preparedness, share information with
their communities and meet with FEMA to
provide input on strategies, initiatives and projects.
Applications are due March 31, 2017.

|Ewan Receives "Read to Achieve" Award|
Blue Springs Freshman Center Project Lead the Way teacher Jennifer Ewan was honored as a “Read to Achieve” award winner this week. The Read to Achieve program honors Kansas City Metro teachers and is sponsored by Missouri’s chapter of the National Education Association (NEA) and KCTV5. Ewan received a check for $1,000 and was visited in her classroom by KCTV5 anchors Alexis Del Cid and meteorologist Lisa Teachman along with NEA President Charles E.
